U.S.A.-Japan High School Baseball Games
Second year student Mr. Takahide Ikeda (pitcher) named to Tokyo all-star team

Second year student and pitcher Mr. Takahide Ikeda was selected as a member of the Tokyo High School Baseball Federation all-star team, which will go play in the United States for the first time in 19 years. The team played their send-off game on December 11 at Jingu Stadium against a select team of first and second year students from the Tohto University Baseball League. Mr. Ikeda, a fairly orthodox pitcher that bats and throws right-handed, took the mound at a crucial moment of the game in the 7th inning, with the score tied 3-3 and nobody out. He steadied his nerves and handled the pressure well, getting the first batter to foul out and then striking out the next two batters, including one on three straight pitches. The high school all-stars rode the momentum Mr. Ikeda helped build to outhit and outpitch their opponents, ultimately chalking up two more runs to win the game 5-3. Mr. Ikeda and the Tokyo all-star team will head to the U.S. on December 23 to play four games against U.S. high school all-star teams. The team will come back to Japan on December 31.
