The 19th Kansai Soka Gakuen Music Festival

The Kansai Soka Elementary, Junior and Senior High Schools came together to hold the grand annual music festival in the Ikeda Auditorium. During the festival rousing wind-instrument performances were given by the high school brass band club?which won the national best prize, "Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award" this year?the elementary school Angelique brass band, and the junior high school brass band club. There were also performances in the morning given by the elementary school Leonard choir, the Victoire choirs from the junior and senior high schools, and the high school Glory Taiko Drum club (in the morning), while the sokyoku (Japanese harp) clubs of the junior and senior high schools (in the afternoon) showcased the beauty of this traditional instrument. The audience was left captivated by the wonderful performances of all the students, who had put in long hours of practice all year to perfect the musical pieces they performed. To close out the festival the students and audience joined together for a thunderous rendition of the "Ode to Joy" from Beethoven's 9th Symphony, singing in both Japanese and German.
