Nameplate unveiling ceremony

On February 10, Sapporo Soka Kindergarten held a ceremony to unveil the nameplate bearing the names of all the children that entered the school in 2011. The ceremony kicked off with five students pulling ribbons to unveil the plate, after which all the children sang the school song “Tsuyoku Tadashiku Nobinobito (Be Strong, Just and Free)”. At the conclusion of the song the children raised a hearty “Banzai” (Hurrah), throwing their arms up in the air together with the principal. Following the ceremony everyone gathered on the snow-covered Nakayoshi Ground for a special commemorative photo. This year marks the 36th anniversary of the kindergarten, which has welcomed over 6,700 students since it first opened its doors. The plate unveiled this year is the 36th nameplate to be placed with the other plates on the main gate of the kindergarten, where they watch over the children of the sun. We encourage you to take a look at the plates when you visit the kindergarten.
