Send-off ceremony for third year student Mr. Naoto Idogawa, one of the Japanese representatives at the ISEF


A splendid send-off ceremony for third year student Mr. Naoto Idogawa was recently held in the school courtyard. Mr. Idogawa is scheduled to leave for Pittsburgh, U.S.A. on May 13 to take part in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2012 (ISEF 2012) as one of the representatives from Japan. ISEF is a “science Olympiad”, and is the largest international competition of its kind for high school students. Approximately 1500 students from more than 50 countries around the world will participate in the competition.
At the send-off ceremony, Mr. Kubo, the teacher responsible for mentoring Mr. Idogawa, explained the events leading up to Mr. Idogawa being selected to participate in the competition. Following his remarks, the president of the student council Mr. Kuwano delivered a send-off message. Mr. Idogawa was then presented with the three-color school flag bearing words of encouragement from his fellow students, who applauded him loudly and showered him with cheers. He expressed his strong resolve and goals for the competition, saying “I’ll do everything I can to meet your expectations”. All the students and teachers look forward to seeing Mr. Idogawa accomplish great things on the world stage.
