Ms. Sayuri Nakamura performs well at IPO (International Philosophy Olympiad)

Ms. Sayuri Nakamura, third year student at Kansai Soka Senior High School, left Kansai International Airport late at night on May 15 to participate in the 20th International Philosophy Olympiad as one of the representatives from Japan.
This year’s competition was held in Oslo, Norway, where Ms. Nakamura took part in the four-hour essay writing session on the afternoon of 17th (local time). The participants were given a selection of four different writing tasks. Ms. Nakamura selected the words of philosopher Hannah Arendt and wrote an essay on “good and evil”, putting in an admirable performance.
During her stay in Norway, Ms. Nakamura shared a room with students from Norway, Austria, and Spain. The time she spent with these students provided her with a valuable experience to interact with friends from around the world. She safely returned to Japan late on the afternoon of the 21st (Japan time). Ms. Nakamura stated that she was really thankful to everyone for the warm send-off she received, and indicated that the message card from her classmates and friends proved to be a great source of encouragement.
