Third-year students creating cocoon dolls during "Taiju Time" (taiju = "stately tree")

During Taiju Time (a comprehensive learning class), the third-year students created cocoon dolls using cocoon balls made by silkworms. The students had carefully tended to the silkworms, feeding the worms and cleaning their cages, much like a nurturing parent. They also learned about the history of the sericultural industry.
Some students said to the silkworms, "Thank you for a beautiful cocoon ball," as they gazed at the balls. With gratitude for the silkworms in mind, each of the students created their own original doll that was uniquely decorated.
